"BELIEF IS NOT ENOUGH"

Many people contend that Christian Faith is to be measured or determined by one's belief.  This is unfortunate.

Belief without commitment, for instance is a "player who doesn't enter the game", but sits on the sidelines to cheer or criticize, whatever his disposition may be.

Belief without sacrifice is a religion that stands apart, uninvolved, indifferent, therefore futile!!

Belief without response is a "soul looking back over its shoulder."

Belief without participation in life, all of life, is to reduce oneself to a creature in this world which demands action now.

The trouble with the "merely believing" religion is that it is unconfirmed, always defensive, threatened", and negative.  Its energies are spent defending a position or in resisting the strange, the alien, the new.  Lacking confirmation, through positive response of faith, therefore having no proof of its own reality, it breeds frustration and insecurity, conflict and confusion.

Faith is a simple response to what GOD is doing in history and to what GOD has done in CHRIST.  It involves obedience to the needs which GOD has set before us.
